SEASONAL LANDSCAPES?

I have done very little painting with oils - and I keep telling myself I should do more .  Here are three 6x36" landscapes I did 7 or 8 years ago, the same scene in 3 different seasons.

The daily dose of art 3 VERSIONS OF THE SAME PAINTING

Sometimes an image gets stuck in my head, and before it leaves I've returned to it repeatedly for inspiration.  I don't remember the order in which the following paintings were done, but clearly they all focus on the same subject.

Left Alone  pastel and ink

Sad  Oil pastel

Empty Sentinel  acrylic

There is no reason to think I won't return to this at least one more time.

the daily dose of art...ALL ART IS DERIVATIVE

In the early 1970s during the first years of my practice, while art was still a hobby, a spent a lot of my free time drawing and sketching.  Most of the time I used my Parker 45 fountain pen, and occasionally a pencil or felt tip pen. My inspiration came from magazine photos as well as local architecture.  I don't know the exact date of this pen & ink drawing, done on a gray toned paper.

It is small - about 8x10" and was probably done around 1975.  The thing is, I never forgot about this drawing, and almost 40 years later, without referencing it, I painted this piece:

If only I could remember names that well.

The Last Sunday Barn

The last Sunday of the year is the perfect way to end the Sunday Barns.  Today's offering is one of my rare oil paintings.  I don't know why I don't use this medium more often; I enjoy working with oils every time I do. Who knows - maybe this will be the year for oils.

THE DAILY DEAL

I’m missing the Barn of the Day fun, and have decided to replace it by doing a daily deal.  I have several dozen small paintings, 12x12” and smaller that are taking up too much space, so I am putting on my chef’s hat and apron and offering a daily special.  I’ll post it here on my blog as well as my face book page, the Art of William F. Renzulli.

There will be a new painting every day except Sunday Barn day

BARN OF THE DAY 77

For a slight change of pace today we will look at a barn that has been converted to a playhouse in Bucks County PA.  I made the executive decision that it qualifies at a "barn of the day".  I consider it one of my best watercolor paintings.
