Slated for our miniature show in October, I finished this small piece Saturday, before leaving for Maryland and other points east. It measures 10x12 and effectively covers a previous painting that I once thought had merit. As often happens, tincture of time has since proven that premise to be flawed.

This is a companion piece to yesterday's 8x8 miniature. If I can stick with my early morning resolve, I will start work on the 30x40 canvas on the easel.

BIG SKIES AND SMALL WORK

Clearly I am addicted to big skies and broad plains as much as I am to barns and trees. I have stopped trying to reason why a long time ago. Although I have a blank 30x40 canvas sitting on the easel waiting for me, I have been spending my time on the watercolor streetscapes and these small panels. (Did I mention that in October I will be participating in a show of small works with 2 other Lowertown artists?)

I am enjoying working on these miniatures. They often give me ideas that can be used on larger canvases. And if you find yourself in need of some instant gratification, they can meet your need.
