After the last fiery sky I needed to get somewhere cooler so I dialed up a winter farm scape. Here it is in stages; as usual, I started with the sky and then decided on the subject matter for the foreground.
at least for this painting. Inspired by a photo my neighbor took while in China last year, and having just finished my last pastel painting I thought it would be fun to have a go at it.
The painting is flawed, although I still think it was a good idea. I have 3 options: toss it and start all over, rework it, or forget about it. I'll have to see how the spirit moves me.
With temperatures outside in the teens it seemed appropriate to try my hand at a more seasonal landscape. The colors were actually inspired by a photo I saw of a whitewashed wall with a black hat and 2 colored foot stools hanging on pegs. It measures 24x24" and will be part of the March show.
