NOTES FROM THE NINTH DECADE

Age is taking me away from myself. Bit by bit I lose small pieces. They fall silently away, perhaps out of concern for my wellbeing. Do they think they won’t be noticed? Sixteen years of personal experience in ageing, I recognize the official start at age 70, leaves me well versed in the process. I have decided I want to be a super-ager and thrive well into the 10th decade. I remain passionately engaged in my work – so I believe I can make this happen. I have already notified all the major organ systems in my body of my intentions and have requested their cooperation.
